London!

London was one of my favorite cities to visit because it had something for every mood! You can go shopping for things you can never afford in the largest department store, take a Harry Potter tour, take a run through beautiful flowers at the clock tower, and of course do the usual tourist site seeing. This blog will talk about mainly the regular site seeing areas and the next will focus on the off the main road sort of spots.

The first thing I recommend to someone traveling to London is to plan accordingly! It will be rainy and windy most likely so bring water proof shoes, a raincoat, and an umbrella in a bag where ever you go!
As to the first thing I recommend doing is to familirize yourself with the city while sight seeing. Now there are several ways you can do this. For me I used the underground, the double decker buses, and my legs to see these places. I took a tour of all the major squares of London as well as the interesting areas of the city that lay around them.

Trafalgar Square- This square is only a few blocks from an underground site. It is very similar to traveling to LA and seeing all the concrete hand prints. This small square contains famous British actors and the movies they starred in. It is a grassy sqaure surrounded by towering buildings. This is also the spot that over a year ago a car bomb went off if that gives you an indication where it is.

Picadelly Circus- This square is back down the underground, up at its stop and a few blocks away. Here the square is much larger and surrounded by very busy traffic and many important buildings. There is a beautiful fountain and many statues here although most of it was under construction when I was there. It is also across the street from St. Paul's Cathedral.
